Turning Ideas into Books

Looking forward to being a part of So…You STILL Want to Write a Book two weeks from today. The six-hour workshop for aspiring fiction and non-fiction writers will be presented by wordsmiths Suzen Fromstein and Laura Connor at the Rouge River Community Centre in Markham.

I’ll be leading a morning breakout session on Writing a Series—the different kinds of fiction series and how to develop them. I’ll also be on an afternoon panel.

There will be plenty of information about getting published and a big focus on book marketing. “I can’t wait for the marketing breakouts,” co-host Fromstein, author of fiction and non-fiction works, said earlier this week. “Getting published is only half the battle. The other half is marketing our books. Authors are great story-tellers, but they can be terrible marketers. We’ll have two professional marketers on hand, who’ll hopefully get us on track.”

There’ll be book giveaways, prizes from sponsors and a draw for a vacation getaway.
